Eat With Your Right Hand!
The majority of the Arabs you meet (about 93%) are Muslims.
In Islamic tradition, Muslims are encouraged to eat with their right hand. Eating with the right hand is considered a Sunnah, a practice of the Prophet Muhammad, which Muslims are encouraged to follow.
The left hand is traditionally used for cleaning after using the toilet, and therefore seen as unsuitable for handling food.
"Do not eat with your left hand, for the devil eats with his left hand." (Hadith)
Using the right hand for eating is seen as a way of showing respect for food and for others who may be sharing the meal.
In many Muslim-majority cultures, communal meals are common, and using the right hand ensures cleanliness and hygiene for everyone.
While the practice is strongly encouraged, it's not considered a sin for left-handed individuals to eat with their left hand if they have difficulty using their right hand.
Does your culture have any eating ettiquettes? Are there ways to eat that are considered polite or impolite?
